VVS Canteen district managers met over five days in Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Annual VVS DM Meeting. Setting business and service goals was at the top of the list, as well as identifying the VVS Values that make us the company that we are.

New concepts, including the Saucemasters BBQ Concept, were discussed with testing dates set for 2016. The new concept brings BBQ from different regions, highlighting what makes each region unique.

While in Lincoln, DMs also had a chance to visit the Lincoln Test Kitchen, where they viewed demos from suppliers of new products. Some of these products, including a new line of African cooking sauces, may make their way into the VVS testing lineup this year.

VVS’ District Managers and the Procurement Team took a trip to the Windy City in May to attend the National Restaurant Association Show. The largest conference of its kind, the NRA Show features food products, kitchen equipment, new food concepts and the latest in foodservice technologies.  “It is important to stay on the cutting edge of all aspects of our business,” said John Keifer, COO of VVS Canteen.  “Staying ahead of our competition and taking care of our customers is what got us where we are today. This show helps us do both by helping us understand what is new from our suppliers that will help us continue to reach our goals.”

Ms. Benton Receives Degree

Tammy Benton, Site Manager at VVS’ Tyson Amarillo cafeteria, recently received her AAS in Food Service Management. Ms. Benton has always wanted a college education.  She attained her goal while working full time and caring for her family – “setting a good example” – in the process.  Ms. Benton attended classes online, at night, on weekends, and, as she puts it, “did whatever was necessary to attend the class that I needed to take.”  When asked about any memorable moments, Ms. Benton said, “Walking down the aisle!”

VVS cafeteria grand opening in Sherman, TX

New VVS Cafeteria in Sherman, TX!

On July 7th, VVS opened its newest cafeteria at the Tyson Plant in Sherman, TX. VVS partnered with Tyson to bring a more modern and open feel to the cafeteria. New concept stations including the Fresh Grill, Cultural Cuisine, Canteen Cuisine and VIBEfresh C-Store offer customers more variety with a wide range of traditional, cultural, healthy and ethnic food options. Daily made to order options from The Fresh Grill have been a huge hit and refreshing upscale crisp salads and restaurant quality sandwiches and wraps from the VIBEFresh C-Store have been moving fast! The overall feel of the cafeteria is warm and inviting and participation has been high. Welcome to the family Tyson, Sherman!
