Employee Spotlight: Kay Kolbo

This month’s Employee Spotlight features Kay Kolbo, Administrative Assistant-Payroll Deduct Systems in Cozad. Kay joined VVS in September 2014, after working as a transportation dispatcher and in manufacturing. She enjoys spending time with her family (husband Dirk and daughter Tess), reading, hunting and target shooting. “I will be graduating from Chadron State College in May 2017 with my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Accounting,” Kay told us. She is also expecting a new addition to her family in July! Thank you for all you do for VVS, Kay, and congratulations on the new addition to your family!

Employee Spotlight: Lindsey Comings

This edition of VVS’ Employee Spotlight features Lindsey Comings, Accounts Receivable Clerk at VVS Corporate Offices. Lindsey joined VVS four years ago, while working on her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, which she completed with honors. Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys outdoor hobbies including ice fishing and kayaking with her fiancé, Clark. They have two dogs and are  currently planning a wedding. “I am excited to become Mrs. Johanson in April!”, Lindsey told us. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and thank you for all of your hard work.

Scott Trumbley Attends NAMA Training

Scott Trumbley, VVS’ District Manager for Vending, Micro Markets, & Office Coffee Service (East Region), recently attended the North American Merchandisers Association (NAMA) training in Houston, Texas. Held on the campus of the University of Houston, the training was for leadership and management. Scott told us: “There were several tools taught on how to deal with employees and customers in a way that will allow your business to grow, prosper and become stronger.” Congratulations, Scott, on completing this training!

Matt Smith

Employee Spotlight: Matt Smith

VVS welcomes Matt Smith as a new District Manager, overseeing accounts in Kansas and Nebraska. He brings 35 years of experience in the foodservice industry, with 34 of those years working for Grandmother’s Restaurants in Lincoln, Nebraska. “My proudest professional experience was being part of a team that created the Lincoln Grandmother’s experience,” said Matt.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys home improvement projects, playing golf, biking, church, and spending time with family and friends. He also has a 23-year old son who is finishing up college at UNL. Welcome to the VVS team, Matt!

Richard Stam Celebrates 5 Years with VVS

Richard Stam recently celebrated 5 years with VVS. As part of the IT team, Richard has become an integral part of diagnosing issues within the POS, camera and VVS’ internal systems. When not at work, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife, gardening and woodworking. Thanks for your service, Richard!

Joe Solomon

Employee Spotlight: Joseph Solomon

This edition of VVS’ Employee Spotlight features Joseph Solomon, site manager at our Baldwin Filters cafeteria in Kearney, Nebraska. Joe has worked in the foodservice industry for 22 years, and has been with VVS for the past 12! Prior to joining VVS, he worked at McDonald’s for ten years, as well as working summers at a Boy Scout Camp while in high school and college.

When not at work, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife of 14 years, Amy, and their four boys, Jacob (age 14), Zachary (age 12), Andrew (age 7) and Isaiah (age 5). He also keeps busy running a Cub Scout Pack, helping with a Boy Scout Troop, teaching kids at his church, and having bible studies. “When I have free time, I like to play catch with my kids, and I also enjoy reading a lot.” Also, Joe is “…very proud that I am an Eagle Scout!” Thank you, Joe, for your years of service with VVS!

VVS Canteen welcomes Ed Tatum as the new Site Manager at Smithfield in Crete, NE. Ed brings 20 years of experience in the foodservice industry. When not at work, Ed enjoys growing tomatoes, cucumbers and asparagus, as well as taking care of his many pets. Welcome to the VVS team, Ed!

Scott Trumbley Promoted to District Manager

Scott Trumbley was recently promoted to District Manager, covering the Eastern Region of Nebraska and overseeing all Micro Markets, Vending and Coffee Service in those areas. Scott has worked for VVS since 2004, working as a Route Salesman, a Customer Service Representative, and most recently as the Assistant District Manager. Scott brings many attributes to his new role including leadership, industry knowledge, and great customer service experience. Congratulations on your promotion, Scott!

Michael O’Leary Celebrates 10 Years!

District Manager Michael O’Leary is celebrating 10 years with VVS! Overseeing all territories in Iowa and Indiana, Michael began his career with VVS as a Site Manager at Tyson Foods in Amarillo, Texas. After working at Tyson in Amarillo, Michael was promoted to District Manager over all Texas accounts. When VVS expanded into markets in Iowa and Indiana, Michael led the transition and setup of these accounts and began overseeing all operations in those states. When not at work Michael enjoys reading, playing softball, watching sports and spending time with his wife Teresa and 3 children. Thanks for your service, Michael!

Employee Spotlight: Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith joins VVS as the site manager at Cargill in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Stephen has worked in foodservice his entire life, including previous experience with a major restaurant chain and grocery chain. “I am an avid golfer and I love to do anything outdoors including fishing, hunting, camping and hiking,” said Stephen, commenting on his passions outside work. “I am also a diehard Denver Broncos fan and a season ticket holder for the Colorado Mammoth indoor professional lacrosse team!” Outside of work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his two children and two grandchildren. Welcome to the team, Stephen!
